Definitely women in India are independent

– I love chocolates. In fact, I am a foodie and love to eat all kinds of cuisine. I love polish food. The secret is to be aware of how much you are eating and to be able to stop when needed – tells tvp.info Srinidhi Shetty, Miss Supranational 2016.

How many languages do you speak? And how important is for you Tulu language?

I am comfortable speaking 4 languages, 3 Indian (Hindi, Kannada, Tulu) and 1 off course is English, which is a global language. Of the 3, one is my mother tongue, Tulu. I love Tulu and have deep affection towards the language. Something that I hold very close to my heart, is my conversations with my mother and it was always in Tulu. The other is my love for my ancestry. I believe one should be very proud of their roots and up-bringing and Tulu played a very important role in that. So, yes Tulu is very close to my heart.

What do you consider your most important asset?

Family is for me, my most important asset. Because all other things that we do or achieve in life, is just a consequence how wonderful we live and how beautiful our family is. I could achieve all that I did, was because I have an amazing family who support me in every way. Things come and go. But family always stays. Family is most important aspect of my life.
What was your first thought when your win the title of Miss India and later Miss Supranational?

I learned that when you get something that you desire so much in life, your emotions go so high that you can’t think for a long time. When I won Miss Diva, India, I was so joyful and happy, because I made my family proud. And when I won Miss Supranational, it was an out of the world experience for me. For a long time, I could not believe that I really won. The feeling and emotions I went through is indescribable. It is only later I realized that I have made my country proud and what an immense honor it is to win Miss Supranational. I know that wining Miss Supranational is going to be one of the proudest moments for ever in my life.

What does tradition mean to you?

To me, tradition in one word means wisdom. It is the wisdom of our ancestors that has been preserved and passed on from one generation to another and this wisdom is invaluable. So, for me tradition is very important and I will always follow and cherish my traditions and will also try to pass it on to my future generations.

Are women in India independent? How about discrimination? And how beautiful women are treated by men? Like beautiful objects or with respect?

Definitely women in India are independent and I am the living example for that like so many other highly successful innumerable women that India has produced. India as a nation is going through a transformation and as a result there is some amount of friction in society. I guess every nation which is in the path of transformation goes through such frictions. So here also, there is some discrimination against women in particular and also in other areas, which I believe is changing rapidly as more and more men and women are getting educated. In my experience and to the extend I know, I can proudly say that, all women irrespective of their beauty or color are treated with respect in India.

Why have you decided to participated in beauty contest?

My decision to participate in beauty contest was an influence of a number of factors. First and most significant was my parents desire to see me on television as a beauty queen and they desired this because, Aishwarya Rai, Miss world 1994 was from India and from my community. So, they always told me that they wish to see me on TV. I think that stuck to my mind very deeply. The second is my realization of my talents and capabilities. I participated in a small beauty contest while in college and realized that this is a place where I am showcase my talent and prove my metal. And then the journey started, culminating at Miss Supranational 2016. The proudest moment in my life.

Did anybody among your friends or family have objection about modeling and beauty contest?

It is a blessing to have a family and a group of friends, who support your ambitions. I am truly blessed in this regard. My family and friends encouraged and supported me continuously in my journey as a model and into beauty pageant. Every time I want a support, they were always there to help me and guide me. As I have mentioned many times, all that I am today was because of the trust and support of my family and loved ones.

They asked her, "how did you free yourself ? " She answered, "by embracing my own power.. " #bts #shoot #picturescomingsoon @simplySimone.official @aeshu_priyanka @screambiscuit @aayush_parmar @bepolishedbombay #photoshoot thanks to all my genius

I’ve read that you love chocolate. It’s hard to believe it looking at your svelto figure. What are your beauty secrets?

Oh! Yes, I love chocolates. In fact, I am a foodie and love to eat all kinds of cuisine. I love polish food. The secret is to be aware of how much you are eating and to be able to stop when needed. And then off course, work out. I don’t believe in refraining from eating food to maintain figure. Maintaining figure is about eating consciously and daily workouts.

Do you practice yoga?

Yes, I practice Yoga. Yoga helps me keep inner balance and focus which I believe is most needed when one aims to become successful in the world. These days I am occupied for almost 16 to 18 hours every day with travelling, shoots, campaigns, etc. So, to keep up my energy and not get stressed out, Yoga is the best solution. No matter where I am, I ensure that I practice Yoga daily.

What is your favourite Indian dish? And maybe you could share the recepie with us?

My Favorite Indian dish is Kori Rotti, which is a traditional Tulu people dish made using Chicken and pan cakes made out of rice. I would love to share the recipe, but I am not sure if you could get all the necessary ingredients such as the variety of spices that we have in India, in Poland. However, I can tell you this, that if you ever plan to visit my home land, do try the above dish. You will not go disappointed. I assure you that.

Do you want to enter into world of cinema? Or do you think of going back to work as an engineer?

When I quit my job as an engineer, I was very clear as to what I wanted to do. I wanted to become a model, enter a beauty contest and do my best there. Now that I am bestowed with the honor of being Miss Supranational, I intended to perform my duties to the best of my ability. I intent to enter the world of Cinema and also continue as a model. I have no plans of going back.

What do you want to achieve being Miss Supranational?

It is a privilege to become Miss Supranational and I intend to make use of this opportunity in the best way possible. The best thing of being an International pageant winner such as Miss Supranational, is that a lot of people follow you and look up to you. So in every way possible, that is through my national and international tours, Facebook, Instagram, public & guest appearances, etc., I ensure that I inspire as many youngsters as possible to follow their dreams. My achievement being Miss Supranational is to inspire as many people as possible to live strong and achieve great heights in their lives.
